Irune Ariño, Founder & Politics

Connecting geopolitical foresight with business impact. Co-founder of a Public Affairs firm.

Irune Ariño is a political scientist, international affairs analyst, and the Chief Executive Officer of ERIS. She leads the company’s strategic vision and its positioning in intelligence applied to political, economic, and social risk. She has a solid background in political analysis, public affairs, and institutional strategy. She has worked with governments, think tanks, and senior executives in the financial sector, producing context reports, comparative analyses, regulatory risk assessments, and strategic briefings to support high-level decision-making. She has also worked as an independent consultant and is the co-founder of a public affairs and audiovisual communication firm. In this role, she has advised economic leaders and international organizations on strategic positioning, risk management, and securing funding for research projects and public policy initiatives. She combines international analysis, strategic communication, and a deep understanding of political environments to deliver actionable intelligence to companies, institutions, and organizations.

Ángel Canal — CTO | Technology & AI

PhD candidate in Neuroscience. Ex-Mayo Clinic & Glasgow researcher. AI architect bridging data and decision-making.
Ángel Canal leads the technological development at Eris, with a background in computational neuroscience and artificial intelligence. Trained in Biology and specialized in Bioinformatics, he combines cellular and biochemical knowledge of the brain with the mathematical foundations of AI to build models that process information closer to natural intelligence.

He has directed research teams at the Bioinformatics and Intelligent Systems Group of the University of Salamanca and the Microelectronics Group at the University of Glasgow, while also advising startups such as Neurotronika and Neurobite Technologies.

As a visiting researcher, he has held positions at the Mayo Clinic (USA), the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy), and Spain’s National Center for Biotechnology. His work includes high-impact publications on AI for medical diagnostics, big data analysis, and implantable devices, as well as contributions to several books on bioinformatics.

Pau Muñoz — Chief Scientist | Algorithms & Modelling

PhD in AI and International Affairs. Ex-Cambridge researcher. Founding engineer in scalable data systems.
Pau Muñoz contributes with his expertise at the intersection of artificial intelligence and global strategy. He holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (UAM) and a PhD in Geopolitics (USAL), combining cutting-edge technical knowledge with a deep understanding of global strategic affairs. His academic work includes collaborations with institutions such as the Oxford Martin School and multiple publications in high-impact journals.

With over eight years of experience leading intelligence analysis teams in high-stakes defense environments, Pau has become a specialist in building complex systems for critical infrastructure and national security.

He is also the founder of Mark V Security (US) and Lobera (Spain), two companies that became profitable within their first year and operate at the intersection of AI, defense, and strategic risk.

Santiago Calvo — Chief Economist | Economic & Regulatory Risk

PhD in Economics. EU & US research experience. Specialist in regulatory and financial risk.

Santiago Calvo leads the economic intelligence area at Eris, where he translates complex data into strategic insights for decision-makers across the public and private sectors. He holds a PhD in Economics, with a strong specialization in applied econometrics. His academic career spans institutions in Europe and the United States, and his research has been published in peer-reviewed journals focusing on macroeconomics, public policy, and international development. Santiago also brings professional experience in banking and finance, making him well-versed in bridging economic theory and real-world decision-making.
